In the marsh where the cattails and the reeds meet the wild rice and the
water parsnips,
the little marsh wren makes his home... His upturned tail and
the tiptilted bill together give him a decidedly inquisitive appearance.
When we push our boat in among the reeds he greets us with quick questions and quicker answers and they sound much the same as the ones we hear
when the cat infringes on the garden wren’s domain.
